Echoes Fall

by Valentine Wolfe

/

about

It can be devastating to wake up and discover your sadness was not, in fact, a bottomless well. This song was inspired by themes of Persephone and Hades, exploring my own experiences with modern life and the terror of feeling that there are indeed no more tears, I've cried them all. The only thing missing is the pomegranate.

lyrics

No more tears
I’ve cried them all
No more tears
Echoes fall

Deep into the darkness peering
Down into the darkened glooming
Your dark beauty goes willing
Your dark beauty goes willing
Love me and despair
Love me and despair

No more tears
I’ve cried them all
No more tears
Echoes fall

Doubtful of a hopeful outcome
Shortened of a mortal’s lifespan
Your dark beauty goes willing
Your dark beauty goes willing
Love me and despair
Love me and despair

Empty eyes
Empty heart
Soulless creatures
Every one

I lament the loss of reason
I lament the death of experts
But it’s lonely on my high horse
Bet it’s lonely in heaven
Love me and despair
Love me and despair

No more tears
I’ve cried them all
No more tears
Echoes fall
